Infant Sleep Consultant
Lactation Counselor
Hosanna
Hosanna Knight is a certified birth doula and lactation consultant with nearly four years of experience supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and the early days of feeding. A culturally responsive, evidence-based breastfeeding advocate, Hosanna is passionate about helping families feel informed, confident, and prepared. She believes that while breastfeeding is a natural process, it does not always come naturally—and that families deserve practical education and compassionate support. Her teaching honors and supports all feeding choices, including breastfeeding, pumping, combination feeding, formula feeding, and paced bottle feeding. So families can make informed decisions that work best for them. Through her work, Hosanna empowers both first-time and returning parents with clarity, confidence, and trust in their own instincts.
Class Structure
The class will be 6 hours, and will be broken up into four segments taught by local experts. The first segment will be 2 hours of newborn care with plenty of hands-on learning, like swaddling and diapering. I will discuss the newborn experience, why crying is so hard on parents, reasons why babies cry, how to recognize your baby's cries, how to avoid unnecessary crying, soothing, pediatrician schedules, bathing, baby wearing, and car seat basics.
The next segment will be around 1.5 hours and will be all parents need to know about newborn sleep taught by sleep expert, Charity Espanosa. She will discuss how much sleep babies need, biologically normal sleep, how to help your baby sleep independently, healthy sleep habits, and safe co-sleeping.
The final part of the class will be led by lactation counselor, Hosanna Knight. This 1.5 segment of the class will cover infant feeding ranging from bottle feeding, pumping and feeding at the breast. She will offer a deep dive into anatomy and physiology of breastfeeding, why a good latch is so important, how to help your baby latch well, ensure your baby is getting enough, she will teach paced bottle feeding, discuss pumping, and parents will have the chance to have hands on experience to practice before their baby arrives.
We will also have a thirty-minute session that offers infant and child CPR. This session is with a certified instructor and perinatal chiropractor. We will take breaks roughly every hour.

“The more knowledge I have, the more confident I feel and I think that’s such a huge part of it - just understanding what’s normal so you don’t have to be afraid of it.”
