About Jeanne

Jeanne is a certified postpartum doula through Prodoula. She offers warm, family centered, and nonjudgemental support to the families she works with.

Jeanne became a doula in 2024 after previously nannying for many years, and was ready to return to work when her children were older. She is a mother to four boys.

Hi! My name is Jeanne, pronounced like the French Jean Claude or Dijon mustard. I am originally from South Africa and moved to the States when I was 15. Over the past 25 years, I have lived in California (San Jose and San Diego), Georgia (Peachtree City and Woodstock), Brazil, and Mexico.

For as long as I can remember I have loved babies! As a child I could be found feeding or walking around with my baby doll on my hip most days. Shortly after moving to the US, I started babysitting and became a regular "mommy's helper" to a mom with twin babies. I loved every minute of it! During college I lived with a family who had 2 year old twin girls, helping mom in exchange for free housing. After a few years of college, getting my pilot's licence, and working at Starbucks, I moved to Georgia as a full-time nanny. I met my husband here and we got married in 2010 while I was nannying for another family with infant twins (the twins kept finding me)!

After 2 miscarriages, I had my first son in 2013. After another miscarriage, my second son was born in 2016. Then another in 2018 and my last in 2021. My days are busy with 4 boys, 3 of whom play baseball almost year round. But we also love to travel and spend time in our backyard around the firepit or playing a game.

After my baby turned 3 I started casually thinking about what kind of work I might want to do once he went to kindergarten. Not long after, my sister (Milene - also a doula) asked me if I would want to do overnight work for one of her clients who wanted to continue with care after their original contract was up. I ended up being with them for 3 months and absolutely loved it! I have since gotten my Postpartum & Infant Care Doula certification through ProDoula and have continued to work overnights. It's the "job" I didn't know I wanted and that doesn't feel like a job because I love it so much!

As a doula, I love to connect with parents and support them in whatever approach they choose to take with their babies. I believe a well rested parent is able to enjoy being with their babies so much more, especially when they're not trying to catch up on household chores from the day before. My goal is always first to make sure that babies are safe and well taken care of, but secondly to set parents up for success the following day. This looks like tidying living spaces, cleaning kitchen surfaces, leaving the dishwasher empty, ensuring bottles are washed, and baby's laundry is washed and folded. And depending on the client, having a pot of coffee brewed when they wake up and often leaving a loaf of freshly baked sourdough.

Client testimonial:

“Throughout my contractions (when I was 8cm+), she was there comforting me. She never left my side. She provided water throughout my labor and delivery, placed cool towels on my neck, massaged my back, affirmed me with words, helped with my breathing, etc. I know that her affirmations and support helped me to have a peaceful birth (unmedicated, waterbirth) in a short period of time. (The nurses were impressed with how I handled everything). Words can't really express how appreciative I am.

After birth, she was there with me in the hospital making sure my needs and desires were met. She helped me with my latch and anything else I needed!! It was just a beautiful experience and I'm so grateful that our paths crossed.
